Second Base Rankings

The position of fantasy baseball is similar to the position of catcher. After a handful of studs, everyone else is pretty evenly matched… and none of them carry much value.

Second base in fantasy baseball starts with one man, and there is no need to argue for another player as the top second baseman: Chase Utley of the Philadelphia Phillies. Save for a few weeks on the Disabled List in 2007 after he got hit on the hand, Utley would’ve ended the season as one of the top 3 or 4 players in the entire fantasy baseball game.

Utley is a five-tool player, hits for a high average, steals a few bases, carries a power stick and drives in runs, and gets knocked in often because he bats in front of Ryan Howard. Utley will be the first second baseman off the board in your fantasy baseball draft, and will probably be taken in the top five or six picks.
