Fantasy Baseball Dugout

First base is a deep position in fantasy baseball. There are a lot of players at first base who hit homeruns, drive in tons of runs, and hit for a good average.

The challenge is figuring out who is going to be the best of the best. For the rankings here at Fantasy Baseball Dugout, we are going to include players in the first base rankings that are eligible for the position (David Ortiz, for example), even if it isn’t their primary position.

Fantasy Baseball Dugout likes Albert Pujols as much as the next elite fantasy baseball player, but this nagging elbow injury (that FBD was happy to first report) has us scared to draft him as high as we normally would recommend.

Pujols is still the no. 1 first baseman in fantasy baseball because of his full-season potential, but just barely. Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard hit for a lower average than Pujols, but their power stats exceed Pujols and their opportunities for run scoring opportunities are far greater.

Ballparkbob has been lobbying heavily for Ryan Howard to take that top spot, because he loves the Phillies.
