2010 Fantasy Baseball Third Baseman Rankings

Fantasy Baseball Third Base Rankings
In 2009, a lot of top talent battled injuries at the hot corner. But those injuries haven’t prevented the top rated third baseman from 2009 to once again return to the top in 2010.
For the third straight year, Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees starts the season as the number one third baseman in fantasy baseball. And why not? He’s the most productive offensive player of the last decade and, despite the fact he missed the first two months of 2009, he still managed to bat .286 with 30 home runs, 100 RBI, 78 runs and 14 steals.
Had A-Rod played the whole year, he easily could have stolen over 20 bases and scored over 100 runs. Add in any possible additional home runs and RBIs – and A-Rod could have finished 2009 as the top fantasy player if healthy.
David Wright of the Mets took over the no. 1 spot at third base when we re-evaluated our rankings at midseason, but his lack of power and injured stint was not popular with fantasy owners. Hopefully that power can return and with it, Wright’s overall value on draft day. He’s slipped a couple ranking spots in 2010.
Several players exceeded fantasy baseball expectations in 2009 at 3B. What you decide to do with these guys in 2010 could lead to success – or failure. Here are five third baseman to watch in 2010:
- Ryan Zimmerman, Washington Nationals
- Pablo Sandoval, San Francisco Giants
- Mark Reynolds, Arizona Diamondbacks
- Mark DeRosa, San Francisco Giants
- Gordon Beckham, Chicago White Sox
