Ricky Romero of the Toronto Blue Jays seemingly lives a very good life. Romero’s father entered the country illegally from Mexico about the same time that Mexican pitching great Fernando Valenzuela was taking Los Angeles by storm. The elder Romero settled in East Los Angeles and worked numerous jobs to give his children a better life.

Today, son Ricky is the ace of the Toronto Blue Jays and coming off a 15 win season that saw him have a 2.92 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. But, despite all of those impressive numbers, Romero’s most impressive win has been his relationship with 2010 Miss USA Rima Fakih.

Fakih is not your normal pristine Miss USA contestant. She was a contestant on WWE’s Tough Enough show and in December, she was arrested for drunken driving. I doubt she even mentioned world peace in her final question.

Barry Zito, who at $126 million is the highest paid pitcher ever left off of a post-season roster, got married to the 2007 Miss Missouri Amber Seyer. The couple were engaged in August, 2011 and married on November 18, 2011.

Seyer is from Oran, Missouri, population 1,200, where her parents were pig farmers. Seyer has modeled for catalogs, clothing companies and brands like J Brand jeans, Joe’s Jeans and Ed Hardy. Baseball’s Hottest Wives Nominee: Kate Eveland

Giants outfielder Nate Schierholtz recently got married to former San Diego State basketball player Kate Eveland. Eveland is a 5′ 8″ guard who graduated from the Aztecs basketball team in 2008.

Schierholtz, 27, met Eveland, 25, prior to the start of the 2009 season. Eveland, a business consultant, is not the only person in the relationship who got a ring. Schierholtz was part of the Giants dream season in 2010 that ended in his getting a World Series ring.

As for their engagement, “Nate was able to surprise me, completely, when he proposed,” says Eveland. “The day he did it, I was in San Francisco, and he was in Phoenix for spring training, so I had no idea.” Thanks to a Spring Training rainout, Schierholtz was able to fly back to San Fran where he proposed.

Kim DeJesus must be really happy. Her husband just signed a 2 year, $10 million contract with the Chicago Cubs. And, the Cubs were Kim’s favorite team growing up in Wheaton, Illinois; her Dad was a Cubs season ticket holder. In fact, Kim said she had a poster of Ryan Sandberg on her wall and said that she planned to marry Sandberg. Same team, wrong baseball player husband.

Yu Darvish is Simply Nasty

If you are a Major League Baseball team, one thing you might be very thankful for this year is being able to sign Japanese pitching sensation Yu Darvish. Darvish is the half Japanese and half Iranian pitcher who has absolutely dominated the Nippon professional baseball league. Just 25, Darvish has had a sub-2.00 ERA for his first five seasons in the league. In 2011, he was 18-6 with a 1.44 ERA. Add to that his sensational performance in the World Baseball Classic where he was 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA.

If Darvish goes through the Japanese baseball posting system, some lucky MLB team may just have the ability to sign him for the 2012 season and if they do, they will get a 6′ 5″ instant ace.

Yu Darvish is also married to Fantasy Baseball Dugout’s Baseball’s Hottest Wife 2010, Saeko Darvish. Unfortunately, the two are pending a divorce and Yu’s move to MLB might be made more difficult due to Saeko’s demands for half of his baseball salary.

Now, that’s talking turkey.
