For those of you who won’t click, Braun is our new no. 1. The 17 players who were ahead of him on our original list have now moved down one spot each in response. Players ranked 19 through 75 went unchanged.
On December 10, 2011 – we announced our initial projections of fantasy baseball first round draft picks for 2012 – Braun topped the list. That same day, ESPN’s Outside the Lines reported that Braun had tested positive for enhanced levels of testosterone allegedly caused by the use of performance enhancing drugs. On Thursday, an MLB arbitrator overturned Braun’s pending 50-game suspension for the positive test.
If you’ve already have you 2012 fantasy baseball draft – then the person who drafted Braun understandably got him at a steal. This is one of the biggest risks the comes with having your fantasy baseball draft too early in the off-season. If you haven’t yet drafted or will be drafting this week, update your cheat sheets.
In most mixed league formats, Fantasy Baseball Dugout is once again recommending Braun as the no. 1 draft pick for your roster in 2012. In NL-only leagues, the reigning league MVP is the unquestioned no. 1 pick.
