Remember, the 1950 movie The Jackie Robinson Story? In that movie, Jackie Robinson was played by none other than himself.
This time around, Chadwick Boseman will play Jackie Robinson. Boseman is the same actor that played Ernie Davis in The Express so you have to think he’s qualified for the role.
But, now another megastar has joined the cast of the remake of The Jackie Robinson Story. It is none other than Harrison Ford that will play baseball executive Branch Rickey who took the bold move of signing Robinson to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Pic follows the iconic story of Robinson, the first African-American to play in the major leagues. Rickey, the innovative Major League Baseball executive who is best known for breaking MLB’s color barrier by signing Jackie Robinson to a minor league contract in 1945. Two years later, at the start of the 1947 major league baseball season, Robinson was signed to the Brooklyn Dodgers major league baseball team with the help of Rickey.
