2011 Third Base Rankings

Fantasy Baseball Third Base Rankings
In 2010, a lot of top talent battled injuries at the hot corner. And those injuries have caused a bit of a change at the top of the third base man ratings in 2011.
For three straight years, Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees started the season as the number one third baseman in fantasy baseball. And why not? He was the most productive offensive player of the last decade.
In 2011, however, A-Rod has been replaced by Rays hot corner Evan Longoria. Longo began the season as the MLB 2K10 cover boy, won his second consecutive gold glove, and finished 6th in the AL MVP voting. Statistically, he batted .294 with 22 home runs, 104 RBI, 96 runs and 15 steals.
David Wright of the Mets is getting touted by many sites as the no. 1 third baseman going into the season, but his lack of power and injury stints are not popular with the editors at Fantasy Baseball Dugout. Hopefully that power can return and with it, Wright’s overall value on draft day. He’s moved up a couple ranking spots in 2011, but we’ve been burned by Wright in the past so we’re holding off on passing the crown over to him this season.
