2011 Outfielder Rankings

Fantasy Baseball Outfielder Rankings

Is it just us, or do no fantasy baseball experts wax poetic on Ryan Braun? And if they don’t, why don’t they? Is it because he plays in Milwaukee? Is it because he’s consistent with high quality numbers, but never goes on seasonal streaks? Could it be because he’s not flashy?

Whatever the reason, it doesn’t matter to us. Coming into 2011, Braun tops our list for the second consecutive year of the top 75 players eligible to be rated in fantasy baseball outfielder rankings. We almost ranked Braun on top heading into the 2009 season – but the last two years Braun has proven he belongs at the top, even when he has a down year. In 2010, Braun batted .304 with 25 home runs, 103 RBI, 101 runs and 14 steals.

Braun is a lock first-round pick in fantasy baseball because you know he’s going to perform at a high level all year. Along with first base and starting pitcher, outfield is probably the deepest position in the game. In most mixed leagues, fantasy baseball players should be able to find a trio of OFers that produce double digit home runs, a .260 or better average, over 50 RBIs and runs, and some steals.

In a perfect strategy for drafting outfielders, if a fantasy owner can select three outfielders who can hit over 20 home runs and steal 20 bases – then he will be in good shape all season. Considering how many outfielders combine speed and power at the plate, this is not as difficult to accomplish as it sounds.

2011 Fantasy Baseball Outfielder Ratings

The outfield scene has changed quite a bit as power numbers continue to drop across Major League Baseball. However, as the power numbers continue to drop, speed and run production increase in value for fantasy baseball.
