No doubt, baseball is passed down through the generations; often it’s from a love of baseball from a father that passes a love of baseball to a son.
Currently, there are 20 MLB players on the 25 man rosters whose fathers also played Major League Baseball. But, nowhere is this love of baseball being passed down from father to son like in San Diego. Of the Padres’ current 25 man roster, 6 had fathers who played in the MLB.
- Tony Gwynn Jr., OF (Tony)
- Nick Hundley, C (Randy)
- Jerry Hairston Jr., IF (Jerry)
- Scott Hairston, OF (Jerry)
- Ryan Webb, P (Hank)
- Will Venable, OF (Max)
I guess that’s why they are called the Padres.
Happy Father’s Day from Fantasy Baseball Dugout.
