Ubaldo Jimenez: What a Season

Just how good has Ubaldo Jimenez’s 2010 season been for the Rockies?

Jimenez: Time to Sell

Jimenez: Time to Sell

Jimenez is 13-1 with a 1.15 ERA and a WHIP that is second in the MLB.  The last pitcher to start off the season with 13 wins and just 1 loss was Roger Clemens back in 1986.  Before that, you have to go back to a pretty fair pitcher named Lefty Gomez who did it in 1932 and another Lefty, Lefty Grove, who did it in 1931.

This for a pitcher that was a projected 7th rounder in most National League drafts in pre-season publications.

Ubaldo Jimenez has great stuff and he’s improved his stats every  year since coming up to the Big Leagues.

  • 2008 — 12-12 3.99 1.43
  • 2009 — 15-12 3.47 1.23
  • 2010 — 13-1 1.15 0.99

Yeah, that’s a pretty good year.

I know it’s hard to do, but there’s one guy in every fantasy baseball league who will overpay for stats like this.  It’s time to start shopping Ubaldo Jimenez.

I will be honest, Ubaldo is having one of the best seasons for a starter in a ballpark with the elevation comparable to Mile High. His season could at the end of the year be compared to a Walter Johnson, Nolan Ryan type year… honestly absurd.

Ubaldo Jiminez is the next Nolan Ryan and also is onb the best team ever (the Rockies) i say that he goes 31-4 with a 1.25 ERA and a .99 WHIP. He also is gonna win Cy Young and N.L. MVP and every other award. Also when you talk about him hes pitching at MILE HIGH a hitters ball park with incredibly thin air so you can hit it soooo far. And its not even fair for batters to face him they have no chance. Kick the Red Sox ass Ubaldo!!!
