When Tampa Bay’s Ben Zobrist walks up to the plate, you won’t hear a rocking AC/DC song.
You’ll hear a Christian Rock/Alternative song by a singer named Julianna Zobrist…his wife.
Julianna, who has sung the National Anthem at Tropicana Field on several occasions, put out her first album last year called “The Tree.”
“As soon as she put the CD out, I knew it was something I wanted to do,” said Zobrist about his unique selection of his walk-up theme.
Ben Zobrist had a breakout year in 2009 as he hit .297 with 29 homers, 91 RBI, and 17 stolen bases minus 6 caught stealing. Not bad for the second base position. Zobrist was rewarded by the Rays in April with a 5 year extension worth $18 million for the next three years and a club option for $7.0 million in 2014 and $7.5 million in 2015. Zobrist’s agent that negotiated the extension is ex-pitcher Bobby Witt.
