Jeff Francouer has a propensity for the dramatic.
Jeff Francouer proposed to his wife, Catie McCoy, on one knee at the historic Fox Theatre in Atlanta during a presentation of Beauty and the Beast. This was the place where Francouer pledged his love to Catie a few years earlier. Francouer got on one knee in the balcony area and proposed to the smitten McCoy, then an English Education student at the University of Georgia.
The couple began dating during their senior year (2002) in high school at Parkview High School. At Parkview, Francouer led his baseball team to two consecutive Georgia 5A state championships. The couple had known each other since the third grade.
The Francouer’s were married on November 3, 2007 in front of 500 guests. They held their rehearsal dinner at the 755 Club at Turner Field. After they were married, they took a honeymoon to the Four Seasons in Mexico and The Atlantis in Nassau, The Bahamas. Braves’ teammates Brian McCann and Clint Sammons were ushers in the wedding. We’ve even found the Francouer’s wedding registry so you may want to pick out some china for them if you haven’t already.
The couple shops at Wal-Mart, eats at Chick-Fil-A, and love miniature golf. He loves country music and drives a pickup truck.
After two solid seasons with the Braves in which “Frenchy” knocked in over 100 runs and played all 162 games, Francouer’s production fell off last season–his first season playing as a married man. Francouer hit just .239 with 11 homeruns versus .293 and .260 the past two seasons with 19 and 29 homeruns respectively.
Francouer is off to a good start having hit a homerun in the MLB 2009 opener versus the Phillies. We are expecting a strong bounce back season from Francouer and possibly a Comeback Player of the Year award.
