Yuka Okajima — Baseball’s Hottest Wife Nominee
Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Hideki Okajima, like Daisuke Matsuzaka and Ichiro, married a famous Japanese newscaster. Okajima married Yuka Kurihara in 2001.
Yuka Kurihara has been an announcer at the Nagano Olympics and for CNN Headline News. Kurihara has both beauty and brains. She graduated from the prestigious Japanese Sophia University and speaks several languages. She wanted to live in the United States and she was a major factor in encouraging Hideki to sign with the Sox.
Yuka met Hideki in 2000 during a celebration following the championship won by Hideki and the Yomiuri Giants. The couple has two children.
The stats:
- Age: 30-something
- Height: About 5′ 4″
- Weight: We’re guessing 50 kilos
- Tale of the Tape: 34C-25-33 (again, we’re guessing, but it’s fun)
- Bats: R Throws: R (based on purse arm)
- Eyes: Brown
- Hair: Brown
As for Okajima, he pitched for the Nippon Ham Fighters in 2006 before signing with the Red Sox. Okajima has been a solid set-up man for Boston. He was 3-2 last year and in two years in MLB, Okajima has a sterling 2.40 ERA in 130 appearances. Unfortunately, Okajima is not a great fantasy baseball relief pitcher because we know that set-up men are under-appreciated in fantasy baseball stats. Okajima has just six saves over the past two seasons.
