Ian Kinsler has been rewarding the faith of fantasy baseball owners this season with tons of runs scored and a great batting average.
The top fantasy baseball second baseman – ranked the no. 2 overall player in Yahoo’s fantasy baseball game – was an FBD and MLB All-Star. This year, Kinsler is batting .319 with 18 home runs, 71 RBI, 102 runs scored, and 26 stolen bases.
Sadly for his fantasy owners, he hit the DL Monday with a sports hernia.
(Take a second to wince amongst yourselves…)
And we’re back. I-Kinz saw a specialist on Tuesday and should not need season-ending surgery. His fantasy baseball owners can now exhale a collective sigh of relief. According to an article from the AP, holding off on the surgery until the off-season should not have any major effects.
You obviously should not drop the Major League leader in runs scored until he is officially out for the season, so keep him stashed on your DL for the time being. Its very likely he will return to action at the end of his DL stint.
In the meantime, consider adding a guy like Ty Wigginton or Mark DeRosa if they are available in your league. Both guys are second base eligible, have multi-position eligibility, and have been raking the ball well over the last week.
