Mike Lowell: Return to Red Sox, Fantasy Baseball Tuesday
Mike Lowell landed on the DL April 10 with a sprained left thumb, but will return to the Boston Red Sox lineup and fantasy baseball
relevancy Tuesday.
Lowell went 1-for-4 Sunday in his final game of a three-game rehab assignment for the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox. He hit the DL after diving for a ground ball and spraining the thumb.
As a fantasy baseball third baseman, Lowell got off to a slow start before the injury. His .200 average in 30 at-bats with only one run scored probably didn’t give fantasy owners much reason to keep him on their rosters. However, Lowell is typically good for around 20 homeruns and an average around .270. He should also be expected to score around 65 runs and drive in 70 – 80 RBI over the course of the season.
If he is available in your league, take a flier on him and watch for decent returns. He makes a solid middle of the pack option at the hot corner in mixed leagues and has good value in AL-only leagues. Current ownership statistics show him available in almost half of fantasy baseball leagues.

[...] Mike Lowell is playing through a lot of pain right now, and although the Red Sox won’t admit it, its definitely hurting his performance. [...]
